Ten ways to make your computing experience more comfortable
1.
Find a comfortable chair with good back support. Sit up, don't slouch . Mom used to say! After using |
computers for 25 years computers, I now know why she said that. Find a comfortable chair with good back |
support. Sit up, don't slouch . Find a good ergonomic chair.(Saves your lower back) |
2.
Make sure your monitor is at eye level. (Less strain on your eyes) |
3.
Take a 15 minute break from the computer every hour and stretch. (Saves your eyes and flexes those |
muscles that you need to be used outside of the computing world |
4.
Are your wrists resting on the top of your computer desk or table? |
Try using a couple pairs of double length athletic wrists bands. In 9 years since I've used wrist bands,
my |
wrists have only hurt twice and that was after using other peoples computer (i.e. I didn't have wrist bands). I
use 3. |
5.
Place your feet firmly on the ground. Do not cross your legs or pull your feet back so only your toes are
on |
the ground. This reduces the possibility of knee and toe problems from hours of computing. |
6.
Look away from the monitor frequently just to change your visual focus. ( Helps your eyes). Cubs games on |
TV are great for this. |
7.
A great game or fascinating web pages can cause one to hunch one's shoulders causing neck and shoulder pain. |
refer back to point #1.Sit up straight. |
8.
Chair doesn't have comfortable armrests ? After years of not using them my arms and forearms ached for |
them. I broke down and bought a new chair. If your chair has wooden armrests cover them with towels or |
padding and fasten them down. (Your arms and forearms will never complain again) |
9.
Can you see glare on your screen? Move your light source or if it can't be moved move your computer. |
(You can't use a computer if you can't see the screen). |
10.
To reduce stress. BACKUP FREQUENTLY! |
I hope these tips help you and make your computing experience more enjoyable.
